The Comfort High boys basketball season came to an end Monday in the first round of the 3A-DI playoffs.
Comfort faced Sweetwater Monday in Eden and the Mustangs tamed the Bobcats, 64-48.
Despite Monday’s loss, it was a good year for the Bobcats after they went 22-11 overall and were 9-1 in district to win this year’s District 5-3A title.
It was Comfort’s first district championship in boys basketball since the 2007-08 season.
Monday’s game was close but the Mustangs outscored the Bobcats in all four stanzas.
Sweetwater was up 11-8 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored Comfort in the second, 20-15, for the 31-23 lead.
The Bobcats played the Mustangs close in the third, but Sweetwater still won the quarter, 14-12, to open up a double-digit lead at 45-35 heading to the final stanza.
Sweetwater finished it out with a 19-point fourth quarter, while the Bobcats tallied 13, and were outscored by 6 points in the period for the 16-point loss.
Comfort will only graduate two seniors in Jaydin Steward and Mark Hernandez.
