Geneva’s girls basketball team didn’t have too many problems Tuesday night when the Lady Eagles hosted First Baptist Christian of Pasadena with a berth to the regional finals up for grabs.
Geneva rolled to an 81-26 victory and advances to the regional championship game Saturday against Vanguard College Preparatory – Waco at Round Rock Christian Academy, 2 p.m.
The Eagles (28-4 overall) seized control right away last Tuesday and held a 31-5 lead over the Warriors by the end of the first quarter.
Geneva won the second, 17-9, and took a 48-14 lead into halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half after the Eagles claimed the third quarter, 23-4, and then won the final stanza, 10-8.
Geneva took all four quarters and held the Lady Warriors to single digits as they hit in double digits in every period.
Maegan Riebel outscored the Warriors by herself and finished with 33 points on 14 of 20 shooting. She also contributed 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Morgan Howard netted 13 points, Kyra Petty added 12, Madeline Egbert scored 8, Grace Detterick finished with 7, while Reese Smith, Amelia Morgan and Sopris Oglesby all chipped in with 2 points.
Detterick grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 5 shots, Petty recorded 5 assists and 4 steals and Howard dished out 4 assists and came up with 3 steals.
