The Cibolo celebrates 34 years of nature and community

The Cibolo celebrates 34 years of conservation, education, research and community on Earth Day, April 22.

The Cibolo celebrates 34 years of conservation, education, research and community on Earth Day, April 22.

Nature continuously provides us with lessons in resilience in the face of change. Thanks to the greater Boerne community, we have become a stronger Cibolo during our 34-year history, with roots growing more profound as we become more resilient to change. The Cibolo is proud to have found new ways to provide services to our community that protect our lands and water, connect us to nature and create the new leadership we need for our rapidly growing region.

We have expanded in new ways and have a renewed vision for how to meet the unique needs of our community. With the Cibolo is turning 34 on Earth Day and to commemorate the occasion, we want to raise $34,000 to expand our reach in conservation, education and community programs.

With your support of this campaign, the Cibolo can reach new heights to:

• Expand the conservation of priority lands in Kendall County to ensure protection and preservation.

• Create deeper environmental engagement for children in the region to connect with nature through increased field trip capacity, outreach, access programs and internships.

• Become a nationally accredited preschool at the Nest Nature School.

• Restore and rejuvenate the Cibolo Nature Center buildings, trails and visitor experience.

The Cibolo was founded on Earth Day when a group of friends came together to clean up and create this special place that is the Cibolo Nature Center.

Today, a donation means the Cibolo can reach and maintain the legacy a group of friends started 34 years ago. Thanks to Desiree and Joe Whitney, the first donations received up to $5,000 will be matched 1:1.

Thank you for supporting your Cibolo Center for Conservation. Together, we can keep the dream alive for another 34 years and beyond!

If you are a member of the Friends of the Cibolo, we thank you for your continued support. If you are not and would like to learn more about our membership program, please visit Cibolo.org/ways. Contact Leigh Owen at leigh@ cibolo.org to learn more about how you can support the Cibolo.
