Both the girls soccer teams from Boerne ISD – the Lady Greyhounds and the Lady Chargers – were on the road last Friday to begin the second round of 26-5A action.
It was a good night for the Chargers and the Greyhounds after they both picked up wins.
Champion was at Smithson Valley Tuesday and is off Friday, while BHS hosted Kerrville Tivy and visits Veterans Memorial Friday.
Boerne High
The Boerne girls continue to play well and have blanked their last three opponents after the Lady Greyhounds defeated Wagner on Friday, 6-0.
Before that, they picked up a pair of 1-0 wins.
BHS is 11-5 overall and 6-3 in district.
Sophia Namvar recorded a hat trick and finished with three goals in the match, while Kinsley Sawyer knocked in two goals and Eliana Bove added a goal.
Mahaley Merkins recorded two assists, one on a corner, while Avery Ukeiley also had an assist on a corner kick.
Boerne Champion
The Lady Chargers were at Veterans Memorial and earned a 2-1 win last Friday after Macy O’Dell accounted for both goals.
Champion’s victory leaves them at 6-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in district.
The Chargers have gone unbeaten in their last four 26-5A matches with three wins and a tie.
Champion and BHS are neck and neck in the district standings with Boerne in fourth at 6-4 and Champion right behind them at 5-3-1.
A win is worth 3 points in the district and a tie is worth a point so the Greyhounds have 18 and the Chargers have 16 with seven matches to go heading into Tuesday.
Their rematch is scheduled for Feb. 28 at Champion.
