Chargers only get in two games at Seguin softball tourney but win both

The Boerne Champion softball team was entered in the Seguin tourney last weekend but only played two games because of the weather.

Champion was scheduled to start play at the tourney Thursday but couldn’t make it because their district opener was moved to Thursday after a two-day delay due to last week’s weather.

Seguin moved the scheduled around for the Champion and was going to let the Chargers play Friday and Saturday.

Champion did get in two games on Friday but Saturday’s game were called because of bad field conditions, leaving the Chargers with only two games.

Champion won both contests that came against Wimberley and El Paso Young WMS by the identical score of 12-3.

The Chargers are 2-1 and resumed district play Tuesday at Smithson Valley.

Against Wimberley, Champion scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first.

Mylie Parker legged out an inside-the-park home run in that first inning and finished with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored in the game.

Aidan Kavanagh doubled and drove in a run, Torin Tucker scored 3 times, while Tatum Cruz drove in 2 runs and scored and Breah Lazarro plated 2 runs.

Parker also picked up the win from the circle and gave up 4 hits, 3 walks and fanned 2.

Against El Paso Young WMS, Mylie Parker stayed hot at the plate and slapped out 2 triples, pushed in 2 runs and scored a run.

Anna Hurst also smacked a triple and plated 2 runs, while Torin Tucker, Reese Rogers and Bella Mamadaliyev all scored twice in the game.

Hurst tossed 97 pitches in the game to get the win and yielded 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5.
