Koby Hunter, former Greyhound athlete passes away

Former Boerne Greyhound Koby Hunter recently passed away after a snowboarding accident at New Mexico’s Angel Fire Resort.

Hunter was a 2022 Boerne High graduate and was a standout football and basketball player for the Greyhounds.

Hunter, 21, was named All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association following his senior season on the gridiron where he played tight end.

He was also on the 2022 Boerne boys basketball team that played at the state tournament and fell to Wichita Falls Hirschi in overtime at the Alamodome.

Hunter also participated in bass fishing and track and field.

The Boerne ISD Athletics Facebook Page mention’s Hunter’s death on a post.

“Former Greyhound Koby Hunter tragically passed away after a skiing accident. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends,” the statement read.

More than 20 people have posted comments on the thread announcing Hunter’s passing and mentioned what a great individual he was.

According to an article in the Sante Fe New Mexican newspaper, emergency personnel were called to the scene of the accident and Hunter was pronounced deceased prior to transport to a hospital.

According to Hunter’s obituary listed on the Ebensberger Fisher website, visitation will be this Sunday at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the funeral will take place Monday Feb. 17, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Sisterdale Cemetery.
