Charger soccer squads face Kerrville Tivy

The varsity soccer teams from Boerne Champion closed out the first round of district play Tuesday with matches against Kerrville Tivy. The Champion boys were at home and lost, while the girls were in Kerrville and played to a draw.

Champion began the second round Friday against Veterans Memorial. The boys hosted the Patriots and the girls were on the road.

The Chargers tangle with Smithson Valley on Tuesday.

Varsity Boys

The Boerne Champion boys were tripped up by Tivy, 2-0, on Tuesday.

It was 0-0 until the final 21 minutes when the Antlers tallied two goals to end the match.

Kerrville knocked in a goal in the 59th minute and added an insurance goal in the 75th minute to seal it.

Champion is 1-6-5 overall and 1-3-4 in district through the first round.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Chargers and the Lady Antlers battled to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday in Kerrville.

It’s Champion’s first tie of the season and leaves them at 5-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 through the first round.

The Lady Chargers are currently sitting in fifth place and tied with New Braunfels at 4-3-1. They are both behind Alamo Heights and Boerne, which both ended the first round of league play at 5-3.

Carsyn Bradley and Lily Alejo tallied goals on Tuesday, while Sydney Brumley and Jayme Harrell both had assists vs. Tivy.
