While the Geneva School of Boerne boys basketball team enjoyed the day off Tuesday, that wasn’t the case for the Eagles girls squad.

Geneva head coach Aamir McCleary picked up a non-district game against Gloria Deo and the Eagles were able to stay on a roll by defeating the Lady Lions, 65-23.

It’s Geneva’s 10th victory in a row and nudges their overall record to 25-4. The Eagles resumed district play Friday at Castle Hills and still have a make-up game with Holy Cross on the schedule after their second-round contest with the Knights was postponed because of bad weather.

Geneva has already claimed this year’s district title regardless of the results from their last two district games.

The Eagles entered Friday’s contest at 10-0 in league action.

Geneva finished Tuesday’s game with 24 rebounds, 21 assists and 22 steals.

Maegan Riebel shot a high percentage and went 11 for 14 from the field for 23 points, Madeline Egbert and Kyra Petty both netted 11, Payton Boles scored 7, Sopris Oglesby and Grace Detterick dropped in 4 points apiece, Reese Smith had 3 and Gaby Medrano chipped in with 2.

Detterick paced the team on the board with 8 rebounds and Petty snagged 6 rebounds, Riebel also tallied 7 steals and 5 assists to go with her 23 points, while Egbert and Petty came up with 6 steals each.
