John Norman Benedict

November 1, 1933 – March 7, 2022

 

John Norman Benedict, 88, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022. He was born on November 1, 1933, to Mr. and Mrs. E.N. Benedict In Midland, Texas.  

In 1955, John graduated from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He received a B.A. in journalism.

It was there he met and married his classmate and love of his life, Joann, on August 13, 1955, followed by active duty as a military intelligence officer.  

John operated a cattle ranch with his brother in Roswell, New Mexico. Later, they moved to Pecos, Texas, where they lived for 15 years. In Pecos, John managed Davidson Feed Pens and retired in 1985.  

They moved to the Hill Country where John and Joann ranched. He was an active member of St. Helena's Episcopal Church. He participated in the House of Luke, disciple program, Angels for Elders, Breakfast Angels and as an usher.  

John was preceded in death by his wife, Joann White Benedict. He is survived by his two sons, Howard Benedict of Dallas, Texas, and Philip Benedict and wife Bertha of Round Rock, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, respectively Colton Benedict and his wife, Chelsea, Logon Benedict and his wife, Madison, and Jaxon Benedict.

A private graveside service was held at the Boerne Cemetery. Arrangements with Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home of Boerne.
