CELEBRATING THE ARTS
In collaboration with various banking institutions on Boerne’s Hauptstrasse and the Boerne Art League, Catherine Phillips-Robertson, a local artist, has been named Artist for the Month of February.
Catherine was born and raised on a farm in Africa and only in recent years have she and her wildlife veterinarian husband, Kevin, relocated to Boerne, to work in the exotic wildlife industry.
She is a hobby artist in oil paints and has done a few commissions but prefers to paint off the cuff and then hope for the best. She has a vivid imagination with a playful sense of humor that runs through most of her work.
Being born in Africa allowed her the privilege of having access to some of the most pristine wildlife places in Africa — she became an accomplished wildlife photographer. Now she generously sponsors three well known wildlife artists in the United States with her vast photo stock for their use.
She sometimes signs her work CAT, and occasionally Catherine Robertson. Examples of her work are situated in the bank lobbies of: Security State Bank and Trust, Jefferson Bank, Bank of America, Texas Heritage Bank, Frost Bank, and at The (Kronkosky) Center.
For those that may be interested, Catherine also wrote a book about her very exciting and unusual life growing up in Zimbabwe, a country in southern Africa. Zimbabwe is known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife.
Some have suggested that it is the modern day “Out of Africa.” Her book, “My African Sunrise,” can be purchased print-on-demand at amazon.com.
