The Boerne High girls basketball team struggled right out of the gate in last Friday’s game at Pieper and was down 14-0 to start.
BHS was playing catch-up the rest of the way and never really could get on track against the Lady Warriors team that went on to win 54-41.
The Lady Greyhounds had their five-game district- win streak snapped by Pieper and is 10-5 in district (19-12 overall).
Boerne’s loss, coupled with Kerrville Tivy’s win at home against Smithson Valley last Friday, leaves the Greyhounds and Antlers tied for third again at 10-5 in the district.
Both were in action Tuesday to close out the regular season. Boerne hosted New Braunfels and Kerrville was at Champion.
Pieper (15-1) is done with the regular season and Wagner (14-1) played Tuesday at Alamo Heights. Those two, along with Boerne and Kerrville are the four playoff teams from 26-5A.
Pieper and Wagner will go big school and Boerne and Kerrville will go small school once the playoffs start.
If BHS and Kerrville both win or both lose on Tuesday, they’ll still be tied for third and will have to break the tie with either a coin flip or a tiebreaker game to decide seeding going into the postseason.
If either Boerne or Kerrville wins and the other loses on Tuesday, then the winner gets third and the loser finishes fourth.
