The Boerne High soccer teams had mixed results Friday when they renewed their soccer rivalry with Alamo Heights.

The BHS boys were at home and won, while a banged-up Boerne girls team played the Lady Mules in San Antonio and lost.

Both are off Tuesday and then resume league play Friday against Pieper.

Varsity Boys

Greyhounds soccer coach Michael Strong had an emotional week last week after his Boerne boys team faced cross-town rival Champion Tuesday for the first time in more than a decade.

After that, the Greyhounds hosted Strong’s alma mater, Alamo Heights, last Friday in Boerne.

The Greyhounds were successful in both those matches and after beating the Chargers, 1-0, they defeated the Mules, 5-1.

BHS is 5-0-1 in district and 7-1-1 overall. The Chargers were off Tuesday and then play at Pieper Friday. Shae Gonzales tallied 3 goals, while Carsten Bain and Liam Griffiths had 1 goal. Brody Bowen and Kolton Fischer had 1 assist each.

Varsity Girls

Alamo Heights handed the Boerne High girls a 2-0 setback last Friday.

After a 3-0 start to District 26-5A play, the Lady Greyhounds are 3-3 in district and 8-5 overall.

The Boerne girls are battling injuries and haven’t been able to score a goal in their three losses after scoring 15 goals in their first three wins.

After taking Tuesday off, the Lady Greyhounds host Pieper Friday. They’ll visit New Braunfels the following Tuesday to close out the first round of district.
