Bobcats win nailbiter over Ingram, 50-49, slide into first place in district standings

Both the Comfort High varsity basketball teams were on the road Tuesday at Ingram and the boys picked up a big win over the Warriors to slide into first place.

The Bobcats edged the Warriors by a point, 50-49, and stand at 5-1. The loss drops Ingram to 4-2 and leaves them tied with Brady, also 4-2. Blanco is fourth at 3-3, Llano is 2-4 and Florence is 0-6.

Comfort is 18-10 overall and has four games left on the schedule heading into Friday when they hosted Llano. After that, they are at Brady on Tuesday and host Florence next Friday. They’ll finish out the regular season at Blanco on Feb. 11.

So far, Comfort’s only district loss came to Ingram on Jan. 10 (56-44) but the Bobcats evened the season series with their one-point win on Tuesday.

Varsity Girls

The Deer lost to the Lady Warriors, 45-18, and drops to 7-17 overall and 1-7 in district.

Comfort hosted Llano Friday and then closes out the regular season Tuesday at Brady.

Llano is leading the district on the girls side at 7-1, followed by Ingram (6-2), Brady (5-3) and Blanco (4-4). Comfort and Florence are tied for fifth in 5-3A standings at 1-7 and have split their two games.
