Boerne High continue to surge in boys basketball

It’s been a great second round of district play for the Boerne High boys basketball team so far.

After finishing 2- 6 through the first round, the Greyhounds are clicking and have posted a 3-1 mark so far in the second round.

Those three second-round wins have come against teams they lost to in the first round and the latest was Friday when the BHS boys defeated Alamo Heights in a tight contest, 60-56.

The Mules beat Boerne in the first round, 53-44.

Friday’s contest was tight but the Hounds hit a couple of key shots late to get the final momentum swim.

The Greyhounds are currently sitting in sixth place at 5-7 in 26-5A and need to finish in the top four if they are going to make the playoffs.

Pieper (7-5) and Veterans Memorial (6-6) are ahead of them in fourth and fifth place, but both are within striking distance for the Greyhound team, which has four games left.

Boerne is 18-10 overall and was off Tuesday. They host Pieper Friday and have New Braunfels, Wagner and Kerrville Tivy left on the schedule after that.
