With last Friday’s 55-33 victory over Alamo Heights, the Boerne High girls basketball team clinched a playoff spot and have also padded their lead over Kerrville Tivy for third place in 26-5A.
Boerne’s win over the Mules, coupled with Kerrville’s loss at Wagner, puts BHS at 10-4 in district (19-11 overall) and leaves the Antlers at 8-5.
BHS and Tivy have split their two games and so the Lady Hounds need to finish one game ahead of the Antlers to avoid a tie for third.
The Lady Hounds were off Tuesday and have Pieper and New Braunfels left on the schedule. They lost to Pieper in the first round and beat New Braunfels.
Kerrville has Veterans Memorial, Smithson Valley and Boerne Champion left, all teams they defeated in the first round.
Boerne was up 14-6 last Friday and then doubled up the Mules in the second, 18-9, for the 32-15 halftime lead.
The Lady Hounds hit for 14 in the third and held AH to 8 for the 46-23 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
The Mules finally reached double digits in the final stanza and netted 10, while BHS dropped in 9 for the final of 55-33.
Meredith Mcleod continues with her dynamic play after she led the team with 19 points and scored in every quarter and was the only BHS player in double figures.
JT Hernandez scored 8, Savannah Salinas and Chloe Donnell hit for 6 each, Jenna Ruede and Oleyvia Ramos netted 5 apiece, Hartlee Menn finished with 4 and Melia Gonzalez hit a pair of free throws.
Alamo Heights’ Berkley Hart led all scorers and finished with 22 of their 33 points.
