Boerne ISD principal makes bond in DWI case

A Boerne Independent School District principal accused early Friday of driving drunk has bonded out of the Kendall County Detention Center, according to reports.

Boerne Middle School North Principal Daniel Owen, 48, is charged with driving-while-intoxicated-second offense and unlawful carrying of a weapon, officials said.

Owen, who was detained at 4:36 a.m., was released at 1:30 p.m. Friday on a $10,000 bond.

School officials contacted Friday said they do not comment on personnel issues.

While Boerne ISD central office staff are on 226-day contracts, Boerne ISD principal contracts ended Thursday; his arrest occurred just hours later.
