This has been a year to remember for members of Boerne’s Paramount Taekwondo Training Center, as well as Taekwondo (TKD) Schools, athletes and coaches from San Antonio.
Recently, Master Daniel Martinez, the South Texas District TKD Director and owner of Paramount Taekwondo Training Center, lead 24 athletes, 13 coaches and 7 schools, from Boerne, San Antonio and Pleasanton, to compete at the 2024 Amateur Athletic Unions (AAU) National TKD Championships.
This year the AAU TKD Nationals were held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in July. The AAU TKD Nationals is the United States premier TKD competition event. This year’s event hosted more than 3,500 competitors, competing in all levels of contact and non-contact competition.
To attend this prestigious event, each individual must qualify to attend this event by placing at a district or regional TKD National Qualifier. Once they qualify, they’re allowed to represent their district or region at the AAU Nationals and the AAU Jr. Olympic Games.
Every state in America as well as competitors from Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands attended this year’s championships. A notable and extraordinary accomplishment at this year’s event was Aidan Zeitler, earning Three National Grand Champion Titles and Julietta Morales earning a National Grand Champion Title.
Overall medal count was 29 gold, 19 Silver and 10 Bronze.
Plans are currently underway to exceed this year’s achievement. If you have any questions on the AAU TKD program or martial arts in general, please call Paramount TKD Center at (830) 2498737 or (210) 887-0530.
