After struggling against their last three opponents, Crestmont Christian Prep entered the San Antonio Saints tournament last Saturday looking to add to their win column. The Warriors struggled at the start, losing 25-9 and 25-11 to the Austin Royals, and 25-11 and 25-13 to Geneva School of Boerne.
But the Warriors turned things around in their first set of the Silver bracket, dropping the Austin Royals second team, 25-8 and 25-21.
In the Silver bracket championship, the Warriors held their own against the San Antonio Saints.
After losing a close first set, Crestmont took the second set, before losing the third set and the match, 27-25, 15-25, 15-7. Senior Faith Hill is finding her home as setter, driving the team offense and putting her teammates in position to score, leading her team to victory over the Royals and the tie-breaker set with the Saints.
On Tuesday night, with some energy in the air, Crestmont took on the New Braunfels Thunder. After the Warrior’s middle school A team’s successful rematch against the Thunder, the high school team continued the winning evening.
Taking advantage of consistent serving by freshman Savannah Head and Hill, the Warriors took the first set 25-19.
Sophomore Christie Keller and freshman Lily-Ruth Lanier took control of the second, serving up 16 points between them, and freshman Krissa Keller’s fantastic defense led the Warriors to win the second set and the match, 25-19 and 25-14.
Crestmont Christian Prep is 3-6 overall and is off until Sept. 6, when they travel to Great Hearts Western Hills.
