Crestmont Christian Prep’s high school volleyball team saw its first action of the season last week at Founder’s Classical Academy in Schertz.
After nearly 22 months since Crestmont’s last high school volleyball game, it was a highly anticipated moment for the school, but most of all for the small team of Crestmont Warriors who took to the court against the Hoplites of FCA.
The Warriors took the first set 25-22, led by strong serving from senior Bella Parkinson. The Hoplites stormed back in the second set, taking it 25-12. Down 10-2 in the third set, the Warriors came storming back, scoring six unanswered points on serves by sophomore Kristie Keller, taking the third and final set, winning the match 25-22, 12-25, 15-12.
Tuesday night the Warriors were back on the court against the Texas Serve Cyclones from New Braunfels. After losing a close first set, 20-25, the Warriors came back in dramatic fashion. Led again by strong serving from Parkinson and Keller, and great team defense, Crestmont dominated in the second set, 25-11.
But the Cyclones turned things around in the third set, and Crestmont lost the match 20-25, 25-11, 15-5, and is now 1-1 to start the season.
The Crestmont Warriors were back in action at Great Hearts Invictus on Friday, and at home against the San Antonio Saints on Aug. 19.
The team plays at Messiah Lutheran Church and the Jones CHRISTmas Ranch.
