A cloudy, wet day didn’t put a damper on sales or the turnout at the 2022 Kendall County Junior Livestock Show and Sale as this year’s auction was a record year in terms of sales, beating out last year’s $1.4 million amount.

Founded in 1939, the Kendall County Junior Livestock Show and Sale provides youth as young as 7 years old and up to seniors in high school the opportunity to exhibit livestock to the community and develop valuable skills inside and outside the show ring. And for many families, the heritage of this event runs through generations of dedicated parents and children.

The Kendall County District Attorney’s office is getting a reboot in preparation for the introduction of a county court at law, but it’s still unclear when the new court will take shape. However, Kendall County District Attorney Nicole Bishop has brought on two new prosecutors to ensure all cases are covered once there are two court rooms to try cases.

The annual Kendall County Junior Livestock Show is going on this week at the youth agriculture and equestrian center near Comfort as boys and girls of all ages compete and show off their prize animals. On Monday, pigs took center stage as barrow and gilt varieties were paraded around the arena. 

The nominations are in as the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce prepares for its annual gala, scheduled for Saturday, January 22, at the Cana Ballroom. The theme for the evening is “Come one, come all.”
