Boerne has always taken pride in its police department – something that is never lost on those of us who wear the badge. Our officers are not just law enforcers; they are neighbors, friends, and members of the community.
Recently, we had the honor of celebrating a significant milestone in the career of one of our finest, Lt. Chris Walk, as he graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy on September 14.
The FBI National Academy is a 10-week program of advanced law enforcement training in Quantico, Virginia, on everything from behavioral science and intelligence theory to forensic science and terroristic mindsets. Those accepted into the program represent the top 1% of law enforcement officers in the country.
The curriculum is both physically and mentally demanding. Officers are subjected to a rigorous regimen of physical training, academic coursework, and practical exercises.
The Academy i s designed to test their limits and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to confront the complex and ever-changi n g challenges of modern law enforcement.
As I reflect on Lt. Walk’s academy graduation, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride. Pride in his achievement, pride in our department, and pride in our community.
I’ve spoken about this many times, but the support our officers receive from the Boerne community is crucial to our success. Your support of our work continually pushes us to pursue excellence in all our efforts. Every thing we do at the department is intended to align with the city of Boerne’s overall goals, including safety and security. Connecting our officers to professional development opportunities like the FBI National Academy helps them to develop and enhance their skills and abilities, which in turn helps our department better serve the community.
Lt. Walk joined our department in 2012 and has consistently exemplified what it means to be a police officer. His time in the department has been marked by commendable professionalism and a genuine concern for the welfare of our residents.
We are fortunate to have him as a member of our police force and his experience at the FBI National Academy will undoubtedly benefit our town in countless ways.
As Lt. Walk returns to Boerne, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will enrich our police department. He has not only expanded his own horizons but has also broadened our collective capabilities.
His training at the FBI National Academy will help us better address the unique challenges that face our community, and his leadership will continue to inspire those around him.
I can speak for the rest of the department when I say that we are incredibly proud of Lt. Walk. We look forward to his continued contributions to our town, and we are confident that he will continue to make us proud.
